Night Owl
I have several friends who have babies very close in age to Autumn, and I love keeping up with them on their blogs. It's fun to see all of the similarities and how the other babies are growing up. One thing that's not so fun, however, is to read about how well these other babies sleep.
When Autumn was first born, we had a friend who told Nelson, "Yeah- it was really hard for us until Abby was 2 weeks old, then she slept a lot better." That gave Nelson something to look forward to, and he didn't seem to mind the lack of sleep so much at first. Alas, at two weeks, Autumn still spent most of the night awake. Several of my friends' babies sleep from 9-12 hours a night without waking up once.
Autumn is now almost 3 months old, and this was her night last night:
11 pm- fell asleep (we were dumb and stayed up watching a movie instead of sleeping when Autumn slept)
1 am- woke up (this was right after we went to bed)
3 am- woke up
5 am- woke up
7:30 am- woke up
9 am-woke up for several hours before falling into an exhausted sleep a few minutes ago at 11:30 am
This girl is a night owl!
She has had much better nights than this-- just two nights ago, she slept for a solid 7 hours, and I couldn't believe how much energy I had the next day. I always think her schedule is changing when she sleeps for longer amounts of time, but then she has a major relapse like last night. Good thing she is so lovable and adorable-- I wouldn't trade a good night's sleep for being able to be her mom for a second!

Four Generations
Grandpa Richards participated in Autumn's blessing, but had to leave right after to help bless my cousin Amber's new baby. He came to help my mom rake leaves the other day, so we decided to get a four generation picture.
Autumn is the 74th great-grandchild and the 206th member of the C. Elliott and Margaret Richards family. Amazing, huh? We love and admire Grandpa Richards so much!!

Halloween 2009
To start off the fun Halloween celebrations this year, we went to a party at Nelson's aunt and uncle's house. The Oaks' are always such gracious hosts, Aunt Annie had up great fall decorations, and they have an awesome new massage chair. Needless to say, we had a great time.

Shots :( New babies :)
We don't like shots around here. I hate them, Nelson hates them, and now we know that Autumn is not a huge fan, either. She had her 2 month shots a couple of weeks ago, and it was pretty sad for all of us. Right after her shots, we went to Suncrest Elementary to visit old friends and teachers. Then we went to the hospital to visit her brand new cousin Parker (see pictures below). It was a long day, and we couldn't get to the store to get her some baby Tylenol until after all that stuff. Every time she would kick (which she is doing constantly), her legs would really hurt and she would cry. Poor little baby!!
With Dr. Freestone, Autumn's pediatrician who took care of Nelson as a premature baby 25 years ago!
Everything looked good! Our little girl is growing fast-- at 2 months, she weighed 12 lbs, 10 oz. and they said she was 23 inches long. (We measured her the night before and think she is 24 inches long.)
Bandaids look cute on chubby little thighs!
Congratulations James and Bethany!! Baby Parker was born exactly 2 months after Autumn, on Oct. 22. Bethany is an amazing mom to her three little ones!
James had to bring Cardston and Alessia to meet their brother through the hospital window because no children were allowed in the hospital (including Autumn) to prevent the spread of the H1N1 flu virus.
It made me cry to be there for this sweet moment. I love this little family!!
Cheerio Face
Once in a while when Autumn is "working on something," she makes this darling face. Her lips are in a perfect circle and look like a cheerio. Love that baby!!
